RESILIENCE BUILDER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT MODEL VISION


Resilient Children
• resilience
• is the ability to adapt well to adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or even significant sources of stress

MISSION

To equip and empower communities to care for our vulnerable children
• equipping & empowering
• adults & youth in a community
• the local church
• businesses & organisations within the community
• partner church outside the community
• businesses & organisations outside the community

To Care
• primary focus = to give psycho-social support to
• secondary focus = to see that other areas of need are met

Vulnerable Children
• all children who are at risk with special emphasis on orphans and children affected by HIV/AIDS


OBJECTIVES


To establish in each community sustainable and effective, resilience building children’s support groups and children’s clubs run by community Resilience Builders (adults & youth) with support from partner churches, organisations & businesses (from outside & within the community)

Resilience Builders
• Adults & youth from the community equipped to offer psycho-social support to OVC

Clubs
• large groups of children
• monthly / quarterly

Support groups
• 10 – 15 children per group
• weekly

Partner churches / organisations / businesses (outside)
• provide resources
• recruit volunteers to assist & support community

Resilience Builders
• offer expertise that is not available in the community
• become active in achieving real reconciliation / healing   between diverse communities
• become advocates for the rights and needs of our orphans   & vulnerable children

Local churches & businesses
• promote community responsibility & partnerships
• create sustainable income generating projects to support   the children’s work & uplift the community
